What's altered?
No longer need a median wage
In the past, hiring foreign labour required firms to pay at least the median salary. The removal of this rule will provide firms with greater hiring freedom. "This change makes it easier for them to find workers, but they still need to offer competitive salaries," Manoj Dharmani, CEO of DUDigital Global, stated.
Less job experience is required
The three-year work experience requirement is being lowered to two years. Many competent Indian professionals with less experience who are nevertheless eligible for jobs in New Zealand now have more opportunities thanks to this.
Extended visa periods
In order to provide migrants more time to acclimate and settle, workers in positions classified as skill levels 4 or 5 will henceforth be granted visas valid for three years rather than two.
New visas for seasonal workers
There will be two new visa choices available:
A three-year multi-entry visa for seasonal workers with experience.
A single-entry visa for lower-skilled seasonal workers that lasts seven months
The right to work while awaiting
In order to minimize job interruptions, employees switching from another visa to the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) will be allowed to continue working while their application is being processed starting in April 2025.
A quicker hiring procedure
Companies will no longer have to wait 21 days after posting a job ad to hire someone from abroad if they are looking for skill levels 4 or 5. Interviews and advertising are still required, but they may now be completed more quickly.
Jobs requiring less formal education and training are classified as having skill levels 4 and 5 in ANZSCO. These positions frequently need a high school degree or a brief period of on-the-job training.
The need for income in order to have children
In order to sustain their families in New Zealand, migrants who want to bring their kids must make at least NZ$55,844 annually.
