The most recent Talent List revisions were revealed by Hong Kong immigration officials. The new Talent List, which will include 60 professions with local talent shortages, will go into effect on March 1. Applying now are eligible foreign nationals employed in these 60 authorized vocations, which include nine recently added professions such as financial services sector areas, innovation and technology, legal and dispute resolution services, aviation, and shipping. General Employment Policy (GEP), Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS), and Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP).  In order to draw in top talent and hire more talented workers, the Hong Kong government first created the Talent List in 2018 and then extended it in 2021 and 2023. According to officials, firms will be able to fill positions on the Talent List more quickly since they won't have to submit documentation proving their issues with local hiring when applying under the GEP and the ASMTP. For more ease and effectiveness, the Hong Kong government also improved the QMAS last year and the Top Talent Pass Scheme, as BAL reported. The expansion of Hong Kong’s Talent List reflects the government’s strategy to position the region as a global hub for innovation and economic growth. By broadening the list, authorities aim to attract professionals from diverse industries, including technology, finance, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. This initiative is expected to strengthen Hong Kong’s competitiveness by addressing labour shortages in critical sectors and fostering a highly skilled workforce that can drive sustainable development.
