For 2027, a goal of 365,000 has been established.According to the government's news release, the plan's reduced targets include temporary residents—international students and foreign workers already in Canada—applying to become permanent residents. The plan's goals are to "pause population growth in the short term to achieve well-managed, sustainable growth in the long term."According to a report by the Economic Times, if permanent residences are reduced, the number of international students entering Canada will decline by 21%, and if permanent and temporary resident permits are reduced, the number of international students entering Canada will decrease by 40%.
