New Zealand has launched a new initiative to support Indian students aspiring to study abroad, through the New Zealand Excellence Awards (NZEA) 2025. This scholarship program is designed to strengthen educational and cultural ties between India and New Zealand,and make quality international education more accessible to Indian students.
What’s Being Offered?
Under this initiative, 29 scholarships will be awarded to Indian students who wish to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programs in eight of New Zealand’s top universities. The value of the scholarships ranges from NZD 5,000 to NZD 20,000, depending on the level and course of study.

Applications opened: March 18, 2025

Eligibility Criteria:
To apply, candidates must:
Be Indian citizens and not permanent residents of New Zealand or Australia
Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
Be residing in India when applying
Meet all New Zealand student visa requirements
Hold an unconditional offer of admission to an eligible course at a participating university

Apply to the University: Submit your application directly to the university or through an authorized education agent.
Apply for Visa: Apply for a student visa at immigration.govt.nz.
Submit Scholarship Application: Complete and submit the NZEA scholarship application before April 30, 2025.
