Temasek Holdings, the Singaporean state-owned investment firm, is nearing an agreement to acquire a significant minority stake in VFS Global, a leading visa outsourcing and technology services provider. This transaction could value VFS Global at approximately $7 billion, including its debt. Temasek is poised to purchase about 20% of the company, which is currently under the control of U.S. alternative asset manager Blackstone Inc. Sources familiar with the ongoing negotiations indicate that Temasek and Blackstone are in the final stages of finalizing the deal, with an official announcement anticipated as soon as Monday. Following the transaction, Blackstone will continue to hold the majority stake in VFS Global. The move comes as Blackstone has been evaluating various strategic options for VFS Global, including the possibility of a full or partial sale. The firm has attracted interest from several prominent investors, including sovereign wealth funds. VFS Global, which has a substantial presence in India, is a major provider of visa application services for the U.S. consulate in numerous Indian cities. This acquisition underscores Temasek’s strategic focus on expanding its portfolio in high-growth sectors and regions.
