The "Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program" (FTI-TTP) will be launched from Ahmedabad on Thursday, January 16, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The scheme will be implemented at the airports in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Cochin, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai.This comes after the FTI-TTP was first introduced by the Home Minister on June 22 of last year at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) at New Delhi's Terminal 3. One of the main initiatives under the "Viksit Bharat"@2047 vision is the FTI-TTP, which aims to give passengers top-notch immigration services so that foreign travel is safe and easy.
How do travellers apply for Fast Track Immigration?
FTI-TTP may be accessed online at https://ftittp.mha.gov.in. Applicants must register online by entering their information and attaching the required files to enrol. When they travel through the airport or at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), their biometric information will be recorded. With the initial phase beginning at seven major airports—Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad—FTI-TTP will be implemented at 21 major airports throughout India.
How is Fast Track Immigration going to operate?
After registering, passengers will scan their passports and airline-issued boarding permits at the e-gate. Their biometrics will be verified at the e-gates at the points of entry and exit. The e-gate will open automatically and provide immigration clearance after a successful authentication. The Bureau of Immigration will serve as the nodal agency for expedited immigration for different traveller categories under the FTI-TTP, which is executed through an online site.
What advantages does the FTI-TTP program offer?
Through quicker, easier, and more secure approval for foreign visitors, the FTI-TTP initiative seeks to expedite immigration procedures. It permits pre-approved, low-risk tourists to use e-gates to avoid traditional immigration lines, much like the U.S. Global Entry Program. With a registration validity of up to five years, or until the passport expires, the initiative is intended to facilitate faster and safer immigration procedures.Applications must be processed using biometrics, and applicants must confirm that their passports are valid for a minimum of six months. The initiative will be introduced in two stages: first for OCI cardholders and Indian citizens, and then for international visitors. Human intervention in immigration processing will be reduced by automated border gates.
