In addition to visa fee increases, the UK is introducing an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system. Travelers from visa-exempt countries, including those from the UAE, will be required to obtain an ETA before traveling to the UK. The ETA will cost £10 and will be valid for two years or until the holder's passport expires. This system aims to enhance border security by pre-screening travelers before arrival.
Considerations for UAE Travelers
UAE residents planning to visit the UK should be aware of these fee adjustments and the introduction of the ETA system. It is advisable to apply for visas or ETAs well in advance of planned travel dates to accommodate processing times and ensure compliance with the new requirements. Additionally, travelers should budget for the increased costs associated with their specific visa category.
